How does your "wish" help the Cosmic Canines?

Both Abbie and the Cosmic Canines work hard to put together the funds required for racing 1,000 mile races such as the Yukon Quest and the Iditarod. Abbie works a landscaping job in the summer. To be successful, it is important she focuses on training dogs in the winter. Our income in the training months is based on hauling firewood for low income families and the elderly as part of a grant driven energy assistance program. That way the Cosmic Canines can help and get some in great strength training also that will help them be successful in their races.   There are few jobs in the world that cover all the expenses in long distance mushing, even with all of the creative "sacrifices" we make in our lifestyle and methods. Outside support is key to a successful competitive team. I like to say, "it takes a village!" Running the Iditarod can cost between $20,000 and $50,000 per year. And that is just running the race! That figure does not include feeding and caring for dogs the rest of the year. By sposoring a dog you are helping the Cosmic Canines pay for entry fees, dog booties, dog food, batteries, medicines, ointments, vet checks, plane tickets from Nome, shipping costs, etc.
